Availability & Leasing
The View offers one, two, and three-bedroom apartments and townhomes, giving you more than one way to shape your living space within a single Portage community. Apartment layouts are efficient and versatile, with a private patio or balcony, a fully equipped kitchen, and well-proportioned living areas that leave room for a work-from-home setup or guest room. Townhome floor plans add a private entry and additional square footage, as well as an unfinished basement. Select townhomes also include garage parking. Renovated and classic finish packages are both available, so you can choose the level of updates that suits you. Visit the Floor Plans page or contact the leasing office to see what is available right now.
Touring is the easiest way to compare apartment living and townhome living side by side. You can request a visit through the Schedule A Tour page on our website or by calling the leasing office directly. During your tour you will walk available homes, see the clubhouse, fitness center, and pool areas, and talk through current availability with a leasing team member who can help you narrow your options.
Once you choose your preferred apartment or townhome at The View, you will complete the online application, submit the application fee and holding deposit, and provide any required documentation. Applications are reviewed for income, credit, rental history, and public criminal records. If an applicant does not meet eligibility requirements, the holding fee will be refunded.
Most applications are processed within 1 to 3 business days once all required documents have been received. Timing depends on verification needs, whether an applicant's background screening is in-state or out-of-state, and how quickly supporting information is submitted. The leasing team at The View will reach out as soon as a decision is ready.
Lease terms at The View Apartments & Townhomes range from 6 to 15 months, which gives you room to match the length of your lease to your housing plans. Please contact the leasing office or submit an inquiry online for current lease term options on the floor plan you are considering.
Yes. If your preferred apartment or townhome layout is not currently available, you can join the priority waitlist by submitting an online application, a $35 application fee per person, and a $200 priority reservation deposit. The leasing team will contact you when a matching home becomes available.
Few communities in Portage let you compare an apartment and a townhome on the same tour. The View brings both home styles together in one setting, which means a one-bedroom apartment with a private balcony and a three-bedroom townhome with an unfinished basement are options at the same address. Renovated and classic finish packages add another layer of choice. Two outdoor pools, a 24-hour fitness center with a separate yoga studio, and multiple on-site dog parks round out the community, and the South Westnedge location puts shopping, I-94, and US-131 within a few minutes of home.
Pricing & Fees
Rent varies by floor plan, lease term, and current availability, and the range reflects the mix of apartment and townhome layouts within the community. Please visit the Floor Plans page or contact the leasing office for the most up-to-date pricing and availability.
Utilities are not included in the monthly rent at The View. Residents are responsible for electric, gas, water, sewer, and trash. Please contact the leasing office for utility setup details so your accounts are ready before move-in day.

A $35 non-refundable application fee is required per person to process your application. A $200 holding fee will also be held until your application is approved. Once approved, the holding fee will be applied to your move-in costs. Should an applicant not meet the eligibility requirements, the holding fee will be refunded. Additional fees and deposits can vary based on credit screening results. For more information, please contact our sales team directly by phone or through the Contact Us page of our website.
No, renters insurance is not required for residents at The View Apartments & Townhomes. However, all residents are required to participate in a Liability Waiver Program, which is outlined in your lease. Please contact the leasing office for program requirements and available options.
Pet Policies
Yes. The View is a pet-friendly community and one of the Portage MI apartments that allow dogs, with a limit of 2 pets per home. The leasing office can confirm which pet types are accepted under the current pet policy, so share the details of your pet early in your search.
A one-time pet fee of $300 applies per pet, along with a monthly pet rent fee of $30 per month per pet. The leasing team will walk you through the full pet fee schedule when you apply so there are no surprises at move-in.
Yes. Breed restrictions apply at The View, and pets are subject to a weight limit of 100 pounds on the 1st floor and 70 pounds on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Because the restrictions are specific, share your pet's breed and weight with the leasing office, so the team can confirm eligibility.
Two dog parks are located within the community, so daily walks and outdoor time happen a short distance from your door. Open green areas throughout the property add room to roam, and the nearby Portage Creek Trail gives you longer routes when you want them. For renters comparing pet friendly apartments in Portage MI, the amount of on-site outdoor space is a meaningful difference.
Apartment & Townhome Features
Every home at The View includes a fully equipped kitchen with electric stove, refrigerator, and a dishwasher, and select homes include an over-the-range microwave. Kitchens are laid out for everyday cooking with usable counter and cabinet space, and renovated homes carry an updated finish package throughout.
All townhomes at The View include an in-home washer and dryer, located in the unfinished basement. Common area laundry facilities are available in all apartment buildings throughout the community. For renters searching apartments in Portage MI with washer and dryer access, ask the leasing team which available homes include in-unit laundry.
The View offers both renovated and classic finish packages, which lets you match the level of updates to your budget and taste. Renovated homes feature an updated finish package throughout, while classic homes keep the same practical layouts and standard features at a different price point. Central heating and air conditioning, carpeted bedrooms, and spacious closets come standard in both. Ask the leasing team which renovated homes are available when you tour.
Yes. Apartment homes include a private patio or balcony, giving you a spot for morning coffee, a couple of chairs, or a few potted plants. Beyond your own door, open green areas throughout the community add more room to spend time outside.
Spacious closets are built into homes throughout the community, and townhomes add an unfinished basement that handles seasonal items, bikes, and bulk storage without utilizing your living space. That basement is one of the practical differences between townhome and apartment living at The View, and it often decides which layout renters choose.
Apartment layouts at The View are designed with flexibility in mind, and the larger two and three-bedroom plans leave room for a dedicated work-from-home setup without giving up your living area. Townhomes offer the same flexibility with more square footage to divide. When you want a change of scenery, the on-site business center with Wi-Fi access gives you another place to work.
Community Amenities
Two outdoor swimming pools serve the community, which means more room to spread out during Michigan's warm months. Both give residents a place to cool off, relax, or spend time with neighbors without leaving the property. Open green areas nearby add space for outdoor time once the pools close for the season.
Yes, and it is open 24 hours, so workouts fit around your schedule instead of the other way around. The View also maintains a dedicated yoga studio for stretching, flexibility, and balance work, which keeps mat sessions separate from the main fitness floor. Both spaces are within the community, with no drive and no outside gym membership required.
A clubhouse with a resident lounge anchors the community's social space, and a business center with Wi-Fi access provides a quieter spot to work or take a call away from home. Both give you somewhere to go when you want a change of scenery without leaving the property.
On-site parking is available within the community. Surface lot parking is $10 per month per vehicle, and residents who want covered parking can reserve a carport for $15 per month. Select apartment buildings offer carport parking conveniently located on the apartment side of the community, and garage parking is included with select townhomes. Let the leasing team know your parking preference early, so they can match you with a home that has the setup you want.
